School principals discuss career counselling

Situation of this school subject and possible ways for starting its implementation were tackled with principals of these 26 schools and the Directorate of Education officials. Participants of the meeting said that career counselling has been lately introduced to Kosovar education with some pilot schools, out of which, only “Asdreni” school of Pejë has started applying it.
School principals said that there are some difficulties in starting its implementation, which are related to lack of staff, lack of teaching materials, textbooks, etc. The possibility of organizing staff training in Municipality’s primary schools was discussed, in order to start applying career counselling from next year on, as it helps students in determining themselves toward vocational schools and provides them timely information on advantages and disadvantages of certain professions in relation with the market and their personal skills.
The “Mismatch” project that is being implemented in Pejë by Syri i Vizionit organization with Solidar Suisse support, aims to help in adapting schools to labour market and establishing sustainable relations between schools and businesses, which are important to developing staff that will position themselves well in the Kosovo labour market.
