SiV have published the report on the monitoring of the international convention on the rights of children

24.04.2014Gjakova, April 24- Nongovernmental organization Syri i Vizionit, in partnership with Save the Children, have published the report on the monitoring of the international convention on the rights of children, from the children with the title "The perceptions of students, parents and officials for the right of education, harassment and discrimination in schools".

The report includes three points of the implementation of the international convention on the rights of children: "The right of Education", "Harassment" and "Non-discrimination", while it is found that in each of them there was a violation and has not been done enough by local institutions.
The report also revealed that there is no proper coordination of institutions to improve the situation of children’s rights, particularly in the area of the right of education, prevention of harassment and non-discrimination.
Present at the meeting, where the publication of the report was made were the Department of Education, the Kosovo Police, The Basic Court- juvenile unit, representatives of ombudsperson for central and local level, the Center for Social Work, municipal coordinator for children’s rights, family health centers, directors of some schools, civil society, parents, students, teachers, psychologists, other responsible institutions for protecting the rights of children and media.
All stakeholders gathered in this table to discuss the security situation agreed that they should do much more in order to strengthen existing mechanisms to increase the level of safety in schools.
